Pumpkins!

It is one of my favorite times of the year again!!! FALL!!! I LOVE FALL!! I miss the heat of summer, but I love the smells, the foods, and colors of fall.  It is such a beautifuk season. So to celebrate we went to the pumpkin patch!!

This was Kyli's first time mobile and she had a blast.  She took her time looking at all the pumpkins and flipping them all over to see if there was green on them.  She also had to test out their durability.

While Kyli was testing out pumpkins Noah was looking for his own pumpkin.
We found three large pumpkins and three small pumpkins.  We had a whole pumpkin family to go home with us, but before we headed out we had to get a few photos with the kids...

Overall, a great morning, we ran out of time and plan to go back another day for all the other fun stuff for the kiddos.  When naptime calls for Kyli, we do not mess around.

What Were We Thinking....

About 4 months ago, my Mom called me and told me she wanted to do a half marathon.  I told her sure, no problem... sounds like fun...

Sunday morning, my alarm went off at 0515, and the first thing that I thought..."What was I thinking?!"  I hate getting up that early in the morning.  I get up and get ready to head dowtown.  At 0530 I woke Mike up, we blessed enough to have Mike take us to the race.  I think he was thinking the same thing, "What was I thinking?!" At of 0545 I woke Kyli and Noah up and they were going " What are you thinking?!" They like their sleep just as much as the rest of us.  Luckily, my family, even if it take a couple moments, they are happy risers...thank goodness.  So while I was still in the "What was I thinking moment?!, we arrived dowtown and started to walk the short 4 block walk to the start of the race.  While it was not as cold as it could have been, the sun had not risen yet and it was cold enough.

We were in Corral 13, not the best of numbers, but we took it lightly. We waited about 15 minutes and then we were off... Of course at that time, everyone was geared up and took off with a huge enthusiasm, we paced ourselves. It was a bit tough in the beginning, it took us a few miles to get into a good groove and then we just talked the miles away. I love do walks with my Mom, because this is when we have uninterupted conversations.

When we finally hit mile 12, signs started to pop up, saying "You are almost there."  We saw countless numbers of almost there signs.  Honestly, I think that mile 12 is longer than 1 mile, but no one will tell me the truth.  Once we hit the capital, we started hearing a crowd and we finally knew we were almost there.  That is when we saw Mile 13!!! YAY!! We decided we needed a photo. We crossed the finish line in a separate lane from the Full marathon runners, looking at the runners that finished when we did, it looked PAINFUL!!! My realization of them running 26.2 miles, WHO DOES THAT?!!!  Who does that for fun?! Seriously.  Next year, I can see doing it again, but I will have to train before and run it so it will be over sooner :) Only 13.1 miles though, I am not that crazy.

All I needed when I got home, was a nice nap.  Unfortunately, my little guy kept coming in and "checking" on me right around the time I was falling asleep.  Nonetheless, a great day and a great time with my Mommy.  Thank you Mikey for driving us!!!
