Mini Vaca

Since Mike's deployment this last time, I determined that I needed a mini vacation when he came back.  While he was working before and after his deployment, he was a bachelor for a few weeks each time and was able to just enjoy a little quiet time.  A year after he came home, I finally got my quiet time and I have determined that I have to make this something we do every few years.  I was lucky enough to go on vacation with my Mom and sister.  While it wasn't far from home, we were able to enjoy each other and bond.

So, we went to Colorado Springs, BUT before we couldn't even leave my car battery died.  Yup, I was all packed and got in to head over to get Mom and Randi and.....nothing.  Luckily, my Dad was home, (Mike was at school) and he came over and we got a new battery.  LOVE MY DAD!!! Finally an hour and a half after we had originally planned on leaving we were headed out, but now everyone needed to eat.  It took us awhile to get there, but it was worth the wait.

Our first evening there, we went to the Flying W Ranch for dinner.  We had a blast!! LOVED the food and enjoyed the music.  We had fun shopping and looking around.  We found some cute shirts for the kiddos. That night we were able to just relax.

The next day was a LONG day.  While we had made reservations, our horseback riding that was scheduled for the morning did not happen because they could not find our reservation, so we had to rebook for that afternoon.  We ended up heading in Manitou Springs and roaming the stores for the morning and into the afternoon.  The only downfall to this was that Randi and I were in jeans the WHOLE time and it was freakin hot!!! I will NEVER forget our horseback riding experience.  My horse was named Cancho. Our ride was through the Garden of the Gods. Beautiful area.  There are alot of rocks here and we were lucky enough to walk through here.  There were alot of stairs for the horses to take. Now, while the other horses took the stairs, dear Cancho decided to take leaps of faith.  Four steps, turned into one giant step.  I was lucky to stay in my saddle.  My butt bones hurt.  Overall, we had a GREAT time and we look forward to doing it again.  That night, swimming pool!!!

The last day we took the train at The Royal Gorge, we were able to sit and relax and talk.  We had a great time and enjoyed some awesome pot roast nachos. The scenery was beautiful.

On the way home, we stopped at the Castle Rock Outlets, let me tell you this place was AMAZING!! This was the first time we had been there and we will definitely go back!!!

I just want to say we had amazing time.  This is really what we needed.  Lots of laughter, talking and jokes.  And just in case they read this....Gggggrrrrrrr!

Reunited And It Felt So Good!!

When my hubby and I were in Maine, I met my best friend there.  We were both "single" mothers for a better part of the time and had one child.  they were about a 1 year apart and became best friends too.  We did a lot together while the hubby's were deployed.  If we ever needed a break ( I needed more than her) we always knew all we had to do was take our child over to the others house and walk out from, in my case tantrums, and we knew they were fine.  We developed a friendship that most people will never have and never understand.  Our lives were so similar because of the guys being in the Navy, we related on SO many levels.  Our favorite was the random and usually in the middle of the week, movies nights.  Oh how I miss those.  Anyway, we haven't seen our Otter friends in about 2 1/2 years and we were blessed to have them come through Colorado heading to their new home in California.  Noah and Mia have not seen each other since they were 3yrs(Mia) and 2yrs (Noah).  Well, Mia is 5 and Noah is now 4.  They took about 20 minutes to get into old habits except for the fact that Noah talks a whole lot more know.  I wish Stay was here in Colorado.  It would be so nice to have that friend that just gets it in my neighborhood again, better yet, we just need to buy houses next to each other and call it good.

The only difference this time from when we were in Maine is that there is another little Goch. She made herself right at home with Mia.  Kyli has a mind of her own, so she played but she played her way.  While Mia and Noah were trying to play with the train tracks on the table...Kyli played Godzilla.  It was pretty entertaining, IF you ask me, they didn't think so.  Despite Kyli's mighty efforts, they were great with her and Kyli had just as much fun as they did.

Come see us again Otters!!! We will come visit as soon as we can!!!

The Babies

These are my babies, Kyli is 18 months old.  The only thing she is afraid of is new people in a new environment.  She eats ANY type of food and loves climbing and being a carefree child.  She has a temper that I think came from Mike, it only comes out when she wants something.  Other than the occassional angry tantrum, she is the sweetest baby, such a lovebug.

This is my handsome guy, Noah, he is 4yrs old and started Tball for the first time this year.  He is a sweet loving boy, when he is not being a BOY.   He constantly tells me he how much he loves me and that he loves me "all the time."  Noah was my tough baby, and I am so thankful he came first, I learned a HUGE dose of patience.  I thought I had patience before I had, I was wrong.  We have been through some tough times and allergies and I would not change a thing.  LOVE HIM so much!!!

Introduction

Hello, My name is Heather. I am a Gemini and for the most part fit the sign.  I am married to a wonderful man, Mike. In July we will have been married for 7 very long but short years.  We have 2 beautiful babies together, Noah, he is 4yrs old and Kyli, she just turned 18 months old on my birthday.  Our life is kind of crazy right now.  Mike got out of the Navy about a year ago and has been using the GI Bill to go to school since August.  While it will definitely benefit us later, it feels more difficult to have him in school then to have him deployed.  My reasoning:  When Mike was deployed we (the kids and I) knew that we could not see him.  Since he has been in school, he is present in our household but often times is unable to take action within the family because he has to get a TON of homework done.  This has been very difficult and often times the babies do not understand why they can see and touch Daddy but why he can't play with them.

Moving on, I just started a new job this week.It is a dream job for me currently, 32hrs, benefits and more money than my prior job where I was working 40 hrs a week. It is in my field, Criminal Justice, which is the first time I have been in my field since I graduated in 2004.  With Mike in the Navy, it was hard to find a job where they wanted me and I never wanted to commit to a career job when I could not stay.  This is the first of many steps to getting us more stable then we have been for awhile.  I am SO excited. The girls I am working with all seem awesome and helpful. They are all friends and there doesn't seem to be any hostility.  This makes me so happy since anytime you put a number of women together in a work place, there is always a large chance that there is a drama mama or hostile female.  They are all quirky and funny.  They believe in hard work, but enjoy a good laugh. This is the beginning to something very wonderful.

Well, that seems like something nice but short to start with.  I look forward to meeting new people on here and keeping in touch with others already on here.  Blog again soon
