Over the Hill :)

My Dad just turned 50 this week. It is hard to believe and for me I still consider my parents YOUNG.  Anyone else?

Anyway, as his birthday neared, it made me think of when my Grandma and Papa turned 50.  I remember both of their 50th birthday parties quite well.  So, for Dad, I wanted something similar.  I think we hit the nail on the head.  We ended up keeping it small and just a few family members.  We went to Dave and Busters, Dad thought it was just another dinner together with my Aunt Penny and Uncle Bill.  Not exactly the case.  We had balloons, a YUMMY cake, and some senior citizen paparphenalia.  My Grandma came, and of course we had an AWESOME gift.

This birthday was surprisingly emotional for a few of us.  My Dad is amazing!  He constantly is coming to my rescue and he is Mr. Fix it at my Mom's house to.  He is always there for us whether it is something that will take 5 minutes or 5 hrs.  As I have gotten older, my Dad and I have also gotten closer.  With all the help and time he gives us, he NEVER asks for anything back, NEVER. He told me while at his party that this is the first birthday that he can remember having in a VERY VERY long time.  It made him feel appreciated.  You only turn 50 once. I want  him to remember this birthday like I remember my grandparents parties.

Anyway, we had some great food, some interesting conversations, and great company.  The highlight for my Dad, was the I Pad 2 we got him.  He never saw it coming and is beyond excited about it.  He never thought he would get one.  Overall, a great night!!!
